Oliver Mellman is a partner at PJ Legal, a UK and Singapore based specialist commodities law firm which was founded in 2017 . He has been a lawyer for over 26 years and has over 17 years’ experience working in energy and commodities. Prior to joining PJ Legal in early 2018, he worked in the legal departments of BP (Integrated Supply & Trading), RWE Supply & Trading, Morgan Stanley and Castleton Commodities International (CCI). At Morgan Stanley and CCI he was European General Counsel and at RWE he was Head of Legal for the Sales and Origination Division. Between 2012 and 2015 he formed an integral part of the Morgan Stanley legal team which successfully managed the disposal of Morgan Stanley’s global oil merchanting business to CCI. Oliver’s practice spans oil, LNG, gas, power, metals, emissions, biomass and coal. As well as regularly advising energy and commodity participants on a wide range of day to day energy and commodity supply and trading issues (non-contentious and contentious), Oliver has widespread experience of acquisitions & disposals, trade and commodity finance, joint ventures, cooperation agreements, structured transactions, bilateral physical and financial supply and trading, shipping, GTC and tender reviews and regulatory matters.
